Institutional Development

This program area aims at building the institutional capacity of IBH to fulfill its mandate. In the next five years, attention will be given to building the institution’s capacity to be able to achieve the set objectives. IBH will undertake staff recruitment and development and operationalize the governance, financial and management structures, enhance documentation and dissemination of information as well as offer demand-driven training and research services.

Strategic activities

  • Establish effective leadership and management at all levels of the organization

  • Recruit, develop and retain competent staff in managerial and support positions

  • Ensure effective accounting,  communication and human resource systems

  • Promote sustainability of the organization through ensuring a sustainable fundraising strategy

  • Build infrastructure for the organization secretariat and field office premises

  • Strengthen management systems and internal policies of IBH

  • Establish an effective accounting system; and other systems and structures as needed 

  • Ensure a strong and effective Board, with a diversity of expertise

  • Develop an effective human resource system and procedures including  salaries, performance indicators 

  • Develop management and staff capacities through trainings, exchange programs and refresher courses

  • Develop a fundraising strategy and work plan that reflects the mission and vision of IBH

  • Carry out fundraising for organizational sustainability

  • Embark on acquiring permanent secretariat, field office premises and outreach facilities which meet organizational needs

  • Improve the working environment of IBH staff

  • Establish effective governance and management structures

  • Develop an M&E framework to monitor organization’s activities and ensure compliance

Monitoring and Evaluation

The Secretariat will be responsible for the implementation of the Strategic Plan, under the direction of the Board of Directors. An Implementation Plan and Results Framework will outline the activities and performance monitoring processes. The selection, prioritization and resourcing of activities will be conducted through an Annual Work Plan. In order to ensure that this strategic plan remains aligned with IBH’s priorities, the Secretariat will undertake an annual review in order to make any necessary adjustments.
